I smell of change

I think these days... my IHPS colleagues are insane and more open? At least that is true for RonB and JeffB.


Last Friday. They mock me for using IE and not liking Linux. RonB talked about the kids and their visit to Legoland. Earlier on he still bother to say he will visit north Carolina for July vacation.They hardly chat leisurely at work, always so serious and less words. Nowadays I see some improvements. Most of the time, only bigBro is more responsive. He still asked me to test drive his red Chevy 'cab' and told me his dog dislikes it as halo flipped in the car whenever there is a turn!


Then today. RonB walked to me and showed me his square-pant spongebob stress ball. Apparently he squeezed too hard till the gel leaking out. Out of curiosity, I touched the stuffs. yucks, it is sticky. Immediately he walked off and laughed. At the moment, I was simply too childish and kiddy. I walked to Jeff and rubbed against his arm, and ask him to blame it on Ron. He tried to rub it against my cube... too bad.... 


Phew, Jeff wasn't mad at all. Hee. We had another round of laughter at our aisle.


OK, now i start to believe in what Melvin said 6 mths ago. You can influence them. Hmm i hope it is a cheerful and positive influence :) it definitely makes work life more interesting and fun!

五月假期：Grand Canyon National Park 大峡谷, AZ

世界7大奇观之一，坐了约6个小时的车程（还好这次旅途由Cathy代驾，基本上我可以坐在车后呼呼大睡 ），我们抵达了大峡谷（南）国家公园。 由于South Rim的游客量较北边多，所有这里的设施等较齐全，公园里巴士的班次也频密得很。

坦白说，这远近驰名的大峡谷并没有让我很惊艳，只觉得噱头被搞得太大，不知是天气的不佳让我没有觉得很震撼还是因为观赏过其他的景色更让我难忘？！

话虽如此，这远远看过去的峡谷真的不是盖的，这可是它是经过几千年的地理气候变化才能形成的。间中的奥秘就能以DUDE来解释．．．

矿物质的积存 - 地球版图的凸起-Colorado River 的渗入-自然界的变化侵蚀

那一层层的颜色都是不同分量的‘oxsidized 铁’造成，我们的上帝真是伟大神奇。

尽管天气不佳，我们3人很有幸的看到的日落，那光线从那一大朵的云照射在那峡谷，我和JL的反应除了是高兴，还是高兴。下回若想要看日落，记得到 Hopi Point 或 Mohave Point 哦！

当然我也在短短的1小时内体会雨水，霜(Slit )和冰雹(Hail)! 太兴奋了！

 

我们3人参加了Ranger Lead 的 Cedar Ridge Hike. 我们沿着South Kaibab Trail 行走，我觉得若没有一双合适的hiking boot, 走在那么倾斜的trail, 我应该无法那么潇洒吧。

因着册子说会有expansive view, 所以我也很执著的走着。

 辛苦一点点是值得的 :)

  

就在我加快脚步的往集合点往上走，突然间开始下雪了！呵呵。这也让我觉得很兴奋。
毕竟我以为这次的旅程我应该会别晒得像小黑人，所以并没有携带防寒的衣物，怎知道竟然在第一站就经历雨水，冰雹和雪！可说是美丽的惊喜！

                                                                 

我和JL参加的一个Fossil walk，怎知我们又半途掉队去照相！拜托，Bright Angel Lodge 那儿的风景真的还挺棒的！所以难免会分心啦！

五月假期：Hoover Dam & Lake Mead, NV

这可是我第二次到访Hoover Dam，对Lake Mead也稍有了解。HD是工程史上伟大的奇迹，在Great Depression 期间用短短5年内动用了5千人把这个水坝建成，造福了California, Arizona, Utah 和 Nevada 这四州

这也是我第一次与不相熟的家庭一同出游，一连7天的旅程正式开始。

我们做的第一件是就是。。。

商讨7天的行程。由于老天会下雪和雨水大哥的光顾，我们把行程倒时针的走，大峡谷Grand Canyon-Bryce Canyon-Zion National Park。最麻烦的就是要重新安排酒店住宿。

这7天走来，那短暂的痛楚是值得的 :)

A vessel of Blessing - YAF Retreat 2011

Here is the retreat flyer i did in an hour time. I am not as creative but i must say i had fun with PS :) I forgot when was the last time i actually worked on flyer design!! Must be donkey years ago... hee...

More importantly, I am proud of the pictures i took with my cheap samsung phone. the hoodoos at Bryce Canyon is indeed very special

Draining

As much as i wish to sit down and blog about my canyons and Oregon trip, i have been swamped by so many stuffs esp at work.

The past week has been crazy. Busy walking around, calling folks and lobbying for help and ideas. It has not been easy but i am glad to be put under the test. This engineering integration effort has drained me to the extent that i only want to catch some sleep whenever i got home from work this week!! Basically my brain is unable to function after that crazy 8 hrs everyday since Tues (5/31).

Intern coming in, delay in cart, broken press... not so cooperative teamates almost drive me nuts.. Almost but not yet :) God's grace is sufficient for me. Thank God for the calmness and peace despite all the fire. Thank God for the encouragement and support from BillF, GretchenB, SteveA and BigBro. All these point to one thing -> I am not alone in this!!

OK, the coming weeks can be more scary yet I look forward to it :))

Just got back from Ying2 and Frank's baby shower. I am glad to be part of it though it consumes me quite a bit yet I am so happy to share their joy and it was a wonderful event which the name of the Lord has been glorified! Indeed they are a God-fearing couple, praise the God for them. I look forward to meet little Yue-En :) I feel i am better relate to this baby shower than the previous one. hehe...

And ... I have been talent-spot again.Apparently they are amazed that I can be the facilitator in such a natural and fearless way. hoho... OK, I really thank God for the gift. Now the cat is out of the bag, i better be more careful as I can see they may ask me to serve more...
